Danville Melvin D. Huffman passed this life on July 2, 2020 at his home.

Mel was born on September 26, 1937 the son of Forrest L. and Luciene (Claypool) Huffman in Danville, IL. He married Joan Talbert on June 29, 1974 and she survives of Danville.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Joan Huffman, two brothers, Richard Huffman and John (Marie) Huffman, brother-in-law, Dave (Merrillyn) Talbert as well as 14 godchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mel had an interesting life working at things he truly enjoyed. He was a football, basketball, baseball, and track coach while teaching math in Onarga, IL. He later worked for the National Golf Association, NCR, and various radio stations. Mel also owned Belton Candy Co. and was the proprietor of his own custom computer programing business for many years. After Mel retired, he worked for Watchfire Signs as a trainer. He was an 80-year Chicago Cubs fan, past president of the local Kickapoo Woodcarvers and known by many as "Uncle Mel". He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A Graveside Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at 11:00 AM in Spring Hill Cemetery 301 E Voorhees Street, Danville, IL. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834 is assisting the family with arrangements. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

It is kindly requested that those in attendance of the graveside service wear masks and practice social distancing.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Bible Chapel located at 3279 E Main St. Danville, IL 61834.
