Melva Louise Bryant, 67, of Danville, passed away at 1:35 p.m., Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at Vermilion Manor Nursing Home. She was born July 28, 1937 in Danville, Illinois, the daughter of William M. and Thelma Marie (Bath) Cook. She is survived by: 3 Sons- Mark Alan (Rhonda) Bryant, Michael Anthony Bryant and Marvin Andrew (Hope) Bryant - all of Danville; 1 Daughter- Marilyn Anne (Randy) Raymer of Danville; her mother- Thelma Hartman of Danville; 8 Grandchildren- Caine, Nathan, Joe, Michelle, Kristina, Zachary, Christopher and Michaela; 2 Great-Grandchildren- Faith and Rodney; 1 Brother- William (Gay) Cook of Smithville, TX; a Special Cousin- Carrie Adams and family; a very Special Aunt- Julia Vehlewald of Danville; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by: her father- William M. Cook, step-father - William J. Hartman, maternal and paternal grandparents. Melva was a 1955 graduate of Bismarck High School. She formerly worked as a bookkeeper for Eureka Printing. She then worked for K-Mart as a bookkeeper for 27 years from 1971 until her retirement in 1998. She was a Den Mother for Scouts, member of the Bunco Club and the mixed bowling league. She loved to read, enjoyed major league baseball, and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bulls. After retiring, she enjoyed traveling, especially her trip to England in 1998. "Melva was a very devoted mother and loved all little children, especially her own children and grandchildren".
