Melva Bruder

Melva Jean (Lewis) Bruder, 77, of Fishers, Indiana passed away April 29, 2014 following a brief battle with cancer. Melva was born December 27, 1936 in Danville, Illinois, the daughter of Melvin R. and Ella (Brant) Lewis. She was a 1955 graduate of Danville High School. Melva pursued nursing and graduated from Lakeview Hospital School of Nursing in 1958. She spent her entire nursing career as a head nurse on the psychiatry ward, at the VA Hospital in Danville, IL. On February 18, 1971 she married John C. Bruder and life for them would never be the same. They became inseparable. They shared many amazing, loving, giving and humorous times. They also weathered many challenging times and loss. They gained strength through each others love and wisdom and always moved forward together. They were married for 43 years and raised two children together. Family meant everything to Melva. In 1980 she left Danville and moved to EauClaire, WI to be closer to family and the lake home. Melva thrived there making many friends. There were subsequent moves to sunny Arizona and finally to Fishers, IN. Melva never met a person that she couldnt talk with. She had friends from all over the country. She loved her family and friends immensely and was truly interested in their lives. She loved hearing about kids and grandkids and family times. Melva was a very strong woman with a wicked sense of humor. She was always a beautiful lady with a heart of gold. Above all else, she was very strong in her faith.
