Melodie Lawson-Jones

Melodie Lawson-Jones, 65, of Danville, IL passed away on November 7, 2024 at 11:00 AM.

Melodie was born on August 11, 1959 the daughter of John and Joan (Risser) Lawson in Danville, IL.

Melodie is survived by her brother, Tom (Cathy) Lawson of Barrington, RI and one nephew, Will (Rayetta) Marlow of Plano, TX as well as many friends, especially those in her “Masters” group.

Melodie graduated from Danville High School in 1977, received her Bachelor’s Degree from Illinois State University and her Master’s Degree from National Lewis University. She taught in the Bismarck-Henning school district for many years and was an Instructor at the YWCA, where she taught swimming lessons and tumbling classes.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, IL 61834. George Desmond will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 PM on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made in Melodie’s memory to College for Kids at DACC or BHRA Education Association Scholarship for prospective teachers at Bismarck-Henning Rossville-Alvin High School.
