Melissa "Mickey" Kay (Rector) Darr

Melissa Kay “Mickey” Darr, 57, of Gifford, IL passed away at her home on the evening of Monday, April 3, 2023 after a hard fought battle with cancer.

She was born November 13, 1965 in Springfield, IL, a daughter of John Rector and Kitty (Tull).  She married Robert Ted  Darr on July 2, 1999 in Urbana, IL.  He survives.

Also surviving are a son, Robert Ted Darr Jr of Gifford, 2 step-sons, Dalton Darr and Tristan Darr ,  a sister Jennifer (Brian) King of Champaign and 2 nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Gerald Guest.

Mickey worked as a supervisor at Rantoul Products for over 25 years.  She loved gardening and you would often see her out in her yard.  She was a member of St. Malachy Catholic Church.

She was a devoted wife and loving mother to her son.

A funeral mass will be held Monday (April 10, 2023) at 11:00 a.m. at St. Malachy Catholic Church, 311 East Grove, Rantoul.  Fr. Joel Phelps will officiate.  Burial will follow at Huls Cemetery, Gifford.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 on Monday morning at Lux Memorial Chapel, 1551 East Grove, Rantoul.
