Melissa Louise Uplinger, 36, of Newport, Indiana, passed away in the early morning on May 10, 2024. Melissa was born December 21, 1987, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of Deborah Sanders and Jeff Brink.
Melissa grew up in Cates, Indiana, and was a 2006 graduate of Fountain Central High School. She was the owner of MLB Disposal and worked as the Newport, Indiana, Clerk and Treasure. Melissa married Carroll Uplinger on October 19, 2010, together they have four children: Bradyn, William, Lillian, and Helen.
Melissa was an outdoor enthusiast, she loved camping, fishing, hunting, and especially taking her children and friends kayaking. Melissa never missed a field trip, class party or a sporting event for her children. She loved everything pertaining to her family. She was an expert in all areas from the field to the kitchen. She was the best at whatever she did from catching and cleaning fish to shooting and processing deer then turning prey into sausage and snack sticks. Melissas most prized possession was her children.
Melissa is survived by her husband Carroll Uplinger of fourteen years. Her sons Bradyn and William Uplinger and one daughter Lillian Uplinger, her mother Debra Sanders, father Jeff Brink, mother and father in law Glenda and Newt Uplinger, brother Jason (Ann) Brink, sisters Danyele (Mike Keuchenmeister) Bowling, Raye Lynn (Mark) Brown, special care giver and sister, Kelly (Davy) Norman, Aunt Denise Dionisio, and Uncle Danny Sanders, special Uncle and Aunt Bill and Kathie Jewett, and a special cousin Ginger Marie Cotton.
Melissa is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Gordon, and Elizabeth (Betty) Brink, maternal grandparents Daniel (Pete) Sanders and Helen Laabs, a daughter Helen Louise Uplinger, Grandmother Helen (Granny Goose) Uplinger and her favorite dog Gooser Jean Louise Uplinger.
A graveside service will be held at 10am est. on Tuesday May 14, 2024, at Thomas Cemetery in Newport, Indiana. Melissas family entrusted Sunset DeVerter Chapel with the final arrangement.
