Maxine Louise Brandt, 87, of Danville, passed away on March 13, 2013 at Avalon Nursing Home in Monroe, LA. She was born on August 8, 1925 in Coburn, IN, the daughter of Urban and Dorothy (Underhill) Treida. She married James Walter Brandt on December 29, 1951 at St. Mary's Cathedral in Lafayette, IN. Surviving her are one son- Robert Allen Brandt of St. Charles, MO, one daughter- Mary Beth (Glenn) McCoy of Monroe, LA, three brothers- George (Kay) Treida of Ft. Myers, Fl and Harold (Bette) Treida of Lafayette, IN, Urban Treida from Fort Worth, TX, one sister- Mildred Callahan of Ft. Myers, FL, three grandchildren- Nicole (Bryan Cureington) McCoy, Blake Brandt, Tyler McCoy and two great grandchildren- Taylor Cooper and Carter Cureington. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, loving and devoted husband of 54 years, and her maternal and paternal grandparents. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her hobbies were her family, friends, cooking, sewing, reading, and gardening. She was an active member of St Paul's Catholic Church. The Danville Garden Club and Vermilion County Home and Community Education Association Liberty Group. Maxine was a volunteer for many organizations over the years such as St. Elizabeth Ladies Auxiliary, Meals on Wheels, Faith In Action, Shelter for Battered Women, The Humane Shelter, and a supporter of Schlarman High School. Her pallbearers are grandsons Blake Brandt of Brighton, IL, Tyler McCoy of Monroe,LA, Nephews Steve Treida of Lafayette, IN, Ron Brandt and Mike Tetzlaff of South Bend, IN, and Jay Willaman of Georgetown, IL. A special thanks to her close friends Fontella Krout and Carolina Pe for helping her when she was ill. Also to special friends and neighbors Kelly and Norm Burton, Rex and Sue Modglin, and Stacey and Larry Wells. A Mass of Christian Burial for Maxine will be held on Monday, March 18, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Paul's Catholic Church with Fr. Greg Nelson officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00 AM before the service. Entombment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Danville.
