Maxie Anderson Young Danville- Maxie Anderson Young was ushered into the presences of the Lord at 12:34pm, Thursday, January 31, 2008, at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center. She was born March 24, 1917 in Sand Gap, Kentucky to Mack and Ida (Alcorn) Anderson. The family moved to the Danville area when she was seven years old. She attended Red Oak Grade School and Henning High School. She married Everett K. Young on October 31, 1936 in Hobert, Indiana. He preceded her in death in January 3, 1985. Into this home was born a son Rev. Kenneth E. Young. She became a Christian in Hobert, Indiana in 1936 and attended The Assembly of God Church. She and Everett made their home in Danville in 1940. She has been a lifetime member beginning at First Assembly of God Church in Danville and later Hillery Assembly of God Church. She is survived by one son, the Reverend Kenneth E.(Marilyn) Young of Danville, and two granddaughters Joy E. (Mark) Mason of Aiken, South Carolina, and Crystal L. Young of Danville. She also has two great-grandsons, Austin and Noah Mason of Aiken, South Carolina. Also surviving is a brother, Jerry M. (Molly) Anderson of Danville, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and three sisters: Mina Calvert, Myrtle Cundiff, and Effie Richardson. She was homemaker most of her life and in later years she worked as a clerk at Kresge, a seamstress at Danville Sportswear, and Snowers Company. She enjoyed playing the piano, spending time with her family, and shopping. Her family enjoyed her specialties of cherry pies, angel food cake, and chicken and noodles. A celebration of her life will be at Sunset Funeral Home at 3940 N. Vermilion Street, on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at 11:00 am. The officiating minister will be her son (Rev. Kenneth E. Young). The visitation will be Monday, February 4, 2008 from 5-8 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hillery Assembly of God Church or Red Oak School Fund. E-mail condolences may be sent to the family at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com
