Max Eugene Dines, 76, of Danville, Illinois passed away at 6:36 am on November 4, 2012 at the home he shared with his wife of 33 years, Sue (Mc Gowen-Reed). Born July 8th, 1936 in Bismarck, Illinois, Max was the 6th of 13 children born to Ralph A. and Ercel M (Watson) Dines. Max loved and was loved so very much by his friends and family. He married Sue on November 20th, 1979. Their children , son Ricky D. (Beccy) Reed of Danville, daughters Julie A. (Kevin) McKenzie of Danville, and Judith M. Dines of Westville. Their 4 grandchildren, Lindsay Darr, Miley Reed, Tyler Mc Kenzie and Lauren Mc Kenzie. Max's siblings, brother Ronald Dines of Danville, sisters Ruth Patton of Danville, Beverly Mills of Bismarck, Carolyn Pichon of Bismarck, Linda (Jack) Smith of Danville, and Sandy (Larry) Steinbaugh of Alvin all survive. Max has joined his parents, and brothers Gerald, William, Ralph, Donald, and Larry Dines and sister Barbara (Henry) Clapp. Graduating from Bismarck High School in 1954, Max went on to start his career as a machinist and later shop manager that would endure until his death. Working at Harrison Steel, Berkley-Davis, Montgomery Machine, and Furry Inc. until he opened his own business Dines Machine & Mfg. in 1983 which he owned with his wife until 1998 but not retiring from the business until 2002. Max was an active member of the Danville Elks Lodge #332, the Danville Boat Club where he was on the board for 10 years and served as it's Commodore in 2000, and he spent many days of his retirement on the links at Turtle Run Golf Course. An avid sports fan, Max enjoyed watching The Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Illini Basketball. Max will always be remembered as a man who was kind and generous to all that knew him. One of his favorite things was to take his truck all around town delivering nuts and candies to area homes and businesses during the annual fundraiser for Illinois Elks Children's Care Corp and the V.A. Activities. He would always lend a hand to anyone in need and never turned down a request for help. A celebration of Max's life will be held at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville at 11 am on Thursday, November 8th, 2012. Entombment will be held at Sunset Memorial Park Swan Court Mausoleum. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, November 7th from 4-8pm at the funeral home with the Danville Elks Lodge # 332 performing a memorial service at 4:00.
