PARIS - Marvin R. Miller Sr., 72, of Paris passed away at 7:45 p.m. Saturday December 2, 2006 at his home. He was born on February 10, 1934 in Georgetown, IL the son of Ora L. and Garnet Carrington Miller. He married Virginia Zielinski Hiatt on September 13, 1969 in Charleston, IL. She survives. Also surviving are; his children, M. Ray Jr. (Debbie) Miller of Decatur, Micheal (Wanda) Miller of Manassas, VA, Theresa (Curt) Smith of Danville, Mark A. Miller of Robinson, IL, Jane Hiatt (Russ) Guthrie of Westville, and Donna Hiatt (Mike) Stephenson of Ridge Farm; twelve grandchildren; six great grandchildren; his brother, Lowell (Lorene) Miller of Catlin; and his sister Emma Jean Estes of Georgetown. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Brother Marion, Sister Leola, and grandson, William. Marvin was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Reserves. He was a retired conductor with Conrail. He worked the railroad for 43 years, retiring in 1996. Marvin also loved to work with wood, making many items for friends and family. He loved to fish and host parties and special occasions at their home. He was an avid Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bear, and Illini fan, going to many games to cheer his favorite teams. Marvin gave as much love as he was given and more. A celebration of Marvins life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday December 6, 2006 at the First Church of Christ in Georgetown. Steve Rutter will be officiating the service. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday December 5, 2006 at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the First Church of Christ in Georgetown or the Lincoln Land Hospice in Charleston.
