Maurice Rick Melvin Rubin, 80, of Danville, passed away at 4:43 a.m. Sunday, May 13, 2007 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. Rick was born on August 17, 1926 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of Benny Charles and Zula Elsie (Shumate) Rubin. He married Betty M. Pierce on March 8, 1954 in Potomac, Illinois. She survives. He is survived by his two sons- Ricke (Pam) Rubin of Wichita, Kansas and Jeff (Janice) Rubin Naperville, Illinois; two daughters- Lorene (Lew) Lane of Henning, Illinois and Penny Rubin of Danville, Illinois; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Rick graduated from Armstrong High School. He served in the United States Air Force during WWII. He retired from General Motors after working there for several years. After retirement he founded WRIB Manufacturing Inc. and RIBCO Fabricating. Rick was an avid Fighting Illini fan and Chicago Cubs fan. He loved roses, gardening and his dogs. Ricks passion was working with different foundries. He was a member of the American Foundry Society. A Celebration of the Life of Maurice Rick Melvin Rubin will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Drew Mentzer officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 " 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to the Danville- Carle Clinic Cancer Center 2300 N.
