Maureen E. Bauman, 82, of Mahomet, passed away at 5:52 pm on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026, at Carle Hospital in Urbana.
Per her wishes, no services will be held.
Maureen was born Jan. 4, 1944, in Urbana, the daughter of Fay and Ethel Fergusson. She married Maurice Frost in 1960 and was blessed with three sons from that union. Don, Vernon “Skip”, and Richard Frost.
In 1978, she married John Bauman and was married to him until his passing in 2002.
She is survived by two of those sons (Skip and Richard), and unfortunately was pre-deceased by her firstborn, Don, in 1996.
Maureen is also survived by her brother, Sonny Fergusson (Bobbi) of Champaign, and sister Sue Eroh (Lyle) of Clovis, CA.
She is also survived by many loving grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as two nephews. “Grandma Reenie” was a loving and supportive person to all of them, and they will always be thankful for her support over her long life. Family was always the most important thing to her.
Maureen was an exceptional waitress in her early years, working at the Paradise Inn in Savoy, as well as other establishments. Later in her life, she worked at the Colwell Company, Thompson Lumber, Robeson’s, and then in the LAS Office for the University of Illinois, from which she eventually retired. She was very proud of all her work, as well as the many friends made throughout her life.
Memorials can be made to any organization that benefits children, as that was always her primary focus in life.
The family would also like to thank The Glenwood of Mahomet for taking exceptional care of Maureen in her final months.
Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center’s Champaign Chapel, 710 N. Neil St., Champaign, IL 61820, is honored to assist Maureen’s family with funeral arrangements.
