Maung Htwe

Dr. Maung Htwe, 89, of Danville, passed away with family by his side on Monday, October 30, 2017 at Loyola Medical Center in Maywood, IL. Maung was born in Rangoon, Burma, the son of Archibald Rivers and Rosie Rivers. He married Daw Say Say, on February 11, 1964 in Rangoon, Burma. She preceded him on May 31, 2006. Surviving Maung are four children: Patti Adeli of River Forest, IL, Richard (Lisa) Htwe of Appleton, WI, Thomas Htwe of the DC area, and Valerie (Joseph) Bookwalter of Frankfort, IN; six grandchildren: Alexandra and Samantha Adeli, Michael (fiance Rachel Stocker), Matthew, Nathan, and Nicholas Htwe; two brothers: Maung (Muriel) Aung of CA and U Cho of Rangoon, Burma; and many nieces and nephews. Maung was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers, and a sister. Dr. Htwe was an Orthopedic Surgeon at the V.A. Medical Center for over 35 years. He received his Bachelors degree in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Rangoon. He then went to University of Pennsylvania for medical school, specializing in Hand Surgery, with a residency at Columbia. Maung loved to sing, he enjoyed soccer, and woodworking but his biggest joy in life was his family. He will be missed by all that knew him. A visitation for Maung will be held at Saint Paul's Catholic Church on Monday November 6th, 2017 from 10am - 12pm with a Mass at 12pm at the church. Father Bo Schmidt will officiate. Cremation rights will be recorded after the service, Maung will be laid to rest next to the love of his life at Resurrection Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to Saint Paul's Catholic Church or Schlarman Academy in Maung's name.
