Rossville - Matthew Jon Carpenter, 39, of Rossville, formerly of Danville passed away at 4:58 PM on Thursday May 18, 2017. Matthew was born on October 2, 1977 the son of Terry D. Carpenter and Judith A. Evans in Danville, IL Survivors include his mother, Judith A. (John) Pendleton, of Danville, father, Terry Carpenter of Danville, two sons, Kyle and Tayler Carpenter of Rossville, IL, step daughter, Allison Flessner of Oakwood, IL, four brothers Marc (Jenny) Carpenter of Henning, IL, Robert (Rachel) Pendleton of Westville, IL, Joahn (Eliza) Pendleton of Danville, IL and John (Jasmine) Pendleton, II of Ypsilanti, MI, maternal grandmother, Vivian Evans of Danville, two aunts, Sandra (the late Bobby) Carpenter of Elizabethtown, KY, and Trudy (the late Steve) Westley of Danville, IL, three uncles, Randy (Glenda) Carpenter of Danville, IL, Darrell (Sandy) Carpenter of Danville, IL, Dennis (Shellie) Evans of Danville, IL, one niece, Lilly and one nephew Jaxsen both of Henning, IL as well as many beloved cousins and extended family. Matthew is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, and maternal grandfather, Ray Evans as well as one aunt, Dianne Price. Matthew was a member of the 2nd Church of Christ in Danville. He attained the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 19 in Danville, IL and served in the United States Marine Corp from which he was Honorably Discharged. Matthew was a talented mechanic and enjoyed working on computers, TVs, and a variety of other electronics. He also enjoyed spending his free time bowling and playing pool. Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday May 22, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion Street, Danville, IL. Drew Mentzer will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park with military rites accorded by American Legion Post 210. Visitation will be held Monday May 22, 2017 from Noon to 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
