Navy Veteran-Matthew Carlton Diller, age 55, of Danville, IL formerly of Decatur, IL was called home to his Lord on Thursday, October 17, 2019, after suffering a heart attack.
Matt graduated from Eisenhower High School, Decatur, IL and soon after joined the Navy. He was stationed in Japan aboard the USS Blue Ridge and worked as a helmsman. After the service he lived in San Francisco for many years and worked in maintenance.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Thelma (Poisel) Diller Bowman of Windsor, IL; father, Arthur C Diller of Bradenton, Florida; sister, Lee Anne Martinie of Tolono IL; niece, Charity Lee Mally of Anderson, IN.
He is survived by his stepfather, C. Dale Bowman of Windsor, IL; sisters, Amy Myers of Decatur, IL, Vicki Mally of Anderson, IN, Patti Sloatman of East Peoria, IL; brother, Jerry (Dana) Diller of Decatur, IL. Matt leaves behind nephews; Bryan (Sheila) Myers of Decatur, IL, Ryan Myers of Decatur, IL, Bret (Julia) Myers of Effingham, IL and Sean (Damon) Priddy of Springfield, IL; niece, Dannell (Brian Wipperman) Sloatman Loseke of Bloomington, IL.
Family, cousins, great nieces, great nephews and many friends will miss Matthew tremendously. He had a special sense of humor and loved to make people laugh.
Pastor Jay Sorrell of the Vermilion Valley Vineyard Church, Danville, IL will officiate graveside services to be held at the Danville National Cemetery on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at 2:00 PM.
