Mason Andrew Creek

Mason Andrew Creek, 19, died January 10, 2011. Born March 5, 1991, his name Mason came from his grandfather, a Freemason and Bricklayer. Mason is survived by his mother and father, Beth Ann and George Matthew Creek, and his sister, Holly Marie Leffler. A life long resident of St. Joseph, Illinois, Mason attended St. Joseph Grade School, St. Joseph-Ogden High School, and was enrolled in Parkland Community College where he studied Construction Technology. To those who knew him, Mason embraced life with a rare passion, doing it his way. At a very young age he had adult struggles in life; yet Mason met each challenge with enthusiasm and an undeniable spirit. Whether it was football, wrestling, or baseball, Mason left his impression on everyone who knew him. He enjoyed fishing with his mother and father on the clear waters of Lake Shelbyville. With his quirky and often dry sense of humor, Mason liked to laugh and make others laugh. Even when things were at their worst, Mason was at his best. Just as Mason was not easy to define in life, he cannot be defined by the fact that his life was cut tragically short in an auto accident. He experienced more in his 19 years than many do in a lifetime. To those who knew and loved him, life without Mason seems impossible. And yet, if Mason were still here he would not want you to worry about the future. Mason would want you to embrace life and those you love. Mason is preceded in death by his Grandfather, Robert A. Creek Sr. of Bismarck, Illinois; Grandfather Willard E. Harris of Danville, Illinois; Grandmother Georgianne Catherine Zillman-Brown of Danville, Illinois; and Cousin Kelsey Creek of Fairmount, Illinois. Mason is survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Visitation will be held at The Vineyard Church 1500 North Lincoln Ave. in Urbana, Illinois on Thursday January 13, 2011 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 14, 2011 at 11:00 AM at The Vineyard Church. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home is in charge of cremation arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family at: www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
