MaryLou Burgoyne, 81, a life-long resident of Georgetown, IL, passed away at 9:50am, Friday, May 5, 2017, at Hawthorne Inn, Danville. On June 16, 1935, MaryLou was born the sixth child out of seven children to Ernie and Mabel {Truman} Winland in Catlin, IL. She was united in marriage to Roy G. Burgoyne on November 1, 1953, at the First Church of Christ in Georgetown, IL, until his passing on July 16, 2012. MaryLou started her career in the florist business and took design & bookkeeping courses. She had a flair for interior decorating which was apparent to everyone in her home and family business, Burgoyne's Flower Shop & Greenhouses, which started in 1909. She and Roy worked side by side for over 48 years. Their legacy of a hometown-run flower shop is still being carried on by Flowers On Main in Georgetown. MaryLou loved hosting and entertaining family & friends, especially when she could cook a meal for her loved ones at home. She was a member of the Fairview Church where she sung in the choir. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading & was an avid Illini fan. She was also a member of the Georgetown American Legion Women's Auxiliary. She was an enormous part of her grandchildren's life from being able to babysit them and create long-lasting traditions from when they were young and continued attending their school & sporting events and supporting them. She had the great pleasure of becoming a great grandmother as MaryLou loved babies. She cherished all the times she spent with her family and they will greatly miss her. She leaves behind: her twin daughters, Darla Dee' Marie Ardis of Peoria, IL & Karla (Ron) Howard of Georgetown; her sister, Eileen Vines of Hoopeston, IL; her grandchildren, Philip Sporcich of Springfield, IL, Brock Ardis & Cydney Ardis, both of Peoria, IL; her step-grandchildren, Mandy (Jon) Wagner of Marion, IL & Jennifer (Hector) Pulgar of Knoxville, TN; her step great grandchildren, Jonathan Wagner & Ellie Pulgar; and many extended family. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her four brothers; and one sister. A celebration of MaryLou's life will be held at 10:30am, Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E. West Street, Georgetown, IL, with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be 4:00pm to 8:00pm, Monday, May 15, 2017, at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery.
