Mary Lorraine Weicherding, 90, formally of Danville, Illinois passed away on April 21, 2020, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Mary was born on July 23, 1929, in Peoria, Illinois to John and Frances Hooley. She was preceded in death by her parents. Mary grew up and spent her early life in Peoria, Illinois. She graduated from The Academy of Our Lady Catholic High School in 1947.She married her husband Ery Weicherding on October 20, 1951 and had four children: Debora Nygren, John Weicherding, Mark Weicherding and Lynne Simnick. Mary graduated from St. Francis Medical Center College of Nursing Peoria, Illinois in 1950.Mary spent her entire life dedicated to nursing and retired from Veterans Administration Hospital in Danville, Illinois. As a Registered Nurse her career spanned 50 years that was extensive and diverse. She was a member of St. Pauls Catholic Church in Danville, Illinois. Mary was married to her husband Ery for 65 years and he proceeded her in death in 2016. Mary is survived by her four children: Debora of Indianapolis, Indiana, John of Elgin, Illinois, Lynne of Fort Myers, Florida, Mark of Plano, Texas and her daughter in laws Rhonda (John) Weicherding and Carrie (Mark) Weicherding. Mary had three grandchildren: Joshua Nygren, Mark Arie and Matthew Weicherding. Mary is also survived by her great grandchildren Gabriel Nygren and Elijah Nygren, Joshuas sons and his wife Melissa Nygren. She enjoyed many hobbies including cooking, antiquing, traveling abroad and gardening. She enjoyed giving back to the community and volunteering with different organizations. Mary was a Parish Nurse and a Eucharistic Minister at St. Pauls Catholic Church in Danville, Illinois. Her passing was sudden and unexpected at Indiana University Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834 has been entrusted with arrangements. Entombment will take place at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleum in Peoria, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Marys name to St. Pauls Catholic Church, American Heart Association, and the Alzheimers Association.
