Mary 'Tootsie' Hamburg

Mary "Tootsie" Hamburg, 83, passed away on January 15, 2021 surrounded by her family.

Tootsie was born on September 12, 1937, in Danville, IL. She is the daughter of Samuel and Bridget (Palermo) Saladino. She married Kerry Hamburg on August 27, 1960, in Danville, IL and he preceded her in death in 2007.

Survivors include her two sons, Kevin (Rita) Hamburg of Pearland, TX and Kelly (Leslie) Hamburg of Humble, TX; one daughter, Lori Hamburg of St Charles, IL; one Brother, Sam (Debbie) Saladino, East Peoria, IL, one sister Catherine Bott of Danville, IL, five grandchildren, Adyson Hamburg and Kaley Hamburg both of Pearland, TX, Ryne Hamburg of Humble, TX, Vivian Edwards and Violet Edwards both of St Charles, IL, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Tootsie is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Kerry, and one sister, Rita Tevebaugh.

She was a lifelong resident of Danville, a member of St Pauls Catholic Church and 1955 graduate of Schlarman High School. She was an avid antique collector and seller, and a tournament Scrabble player. If you knew her, you loved her.

A Private Family Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at 10:00 AM St Pauls Catholic Church 1303 Walnut Street in Danville, IL. Father Bowan Schmitt will officiate. A Private Family Chapel Committal Service will be at Noon on Thursday, January 21, Resurrection Cemetery 818 Wendtt Ave Danville, IL 61832. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 from 5:00 7:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St., Danville, Illinois 61834. A Private Family Prayer Service will be held at 4:30 PM prior to the visitation at the funeral home.

It is kindly requested that those in attendance of the services wear a mask and practice social distancing.
