Mary Rodgers

Mary Louise Rodgers, 86, of West Lebanon, Ind. passed away Monday October 30, 2023, at Hawthorne Inn in Danville, ILL surrounded by family. Mary was born July 31, 1937, in Danville, ILL to the late George and Thelma Richards. Mary worked for several years at Covington manor nursing home as well as Vermillion County, Illinois sheriff's department.

On January 1, 1955, she married the love of her life Homer D Rodgers in Danville, IL. She is survived by two children Wanda(Jim) Hislope of West Lebanon, IN and Homer(Tammy)Rodgers of Lakeland, Fl. One brother Larry(Linda) Richards of South Carolina, a sister Judy(Bob)Burman of South Carolina, and a sister Beverly(Bill) Rohrer of Bloomington, IN. Surviving are two sisters-in-law Mozelle Enterkin and Wanda Faye Henderson and a brother-in-law Junior Rodgers all from Cullman, AL Also surviving is Jeanette(Cass) Curtis, Jennifer(Clayton) Moore, Amie(Dustin)Elliott, Ashley(Dustin)McDonald, Kristina Hickman(Zach Slaughter), Ryan Rodgers, and Daniel(Monica)Rodgers along nine great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews who were all extremely special to her.

Mary enjoyed going to church, gardening, dancing and listening to music, especially Vince Gill. Mary was a member of West Liberty Church of Christ for over 40 yrs. She was a very caring person for her family and others. Mary also liked to tell stories of the days her and their children spent with Homer while he was enlisted in the military.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Homer, a daughter Beverly Lynn Rodgers, her parents, George & Thelma Richards, a brother Gary Allen Richards (Pam), and three sisters Betty Lunt, Georgia Ewing, and Cheryl Wright.

Funeral Services will take place at West Liberty Church of Christ 2806 Indiana State road 32, in Covington, Indiana 47932 at 2 pm est. on Thursday, November 2, 2023. With pastor Kurt Flora officiating. Visitations will be from 12-2 pm est at the church prior to the service. Burial will follow at West Liberty Cemetery.
