Mary Rita Rouse, 92, of Danville passed from this life at 5:00 PM July 30, 2015. She was born June 9, 1923 at home on N. Beard Street, the daughter of Clara Senger Wade and Arthur James Wade. Mary Rita graduated from Danville High School with the class of June, 1941. After attending Utterback Business College she worked in insurance for Webster-Heskett and later as a secretary to Paul Jones of Lindley, Jones, Grant & Sebat Law Office. She married A/C Lt. William C. Baumgart on December 11, 1943. He was killed in a fighter plane crash over Panama on July 7, 1944. She later married Owen L. Rouse on August 26, 1946 and spent 58 wonderful years together before he passed in 2004. Also surviving are two sons, James Owen (Rosemary) Rouse of Tunnel Hill, IL, Mark Frederick (Rewadee) Rouse of Danville, IL.; two daughters, Luann (Paul) Pasquale of Danville, IL and Julie Kay (Victor) Audo of Mahomet, IL. There are five grandchildren; Cory William Runyan of Daphne AL, Luke Audo of Denver CO, Chelsey Leigh Rouse of Cape Girardeau, MO and Tessa Claire Audo of Mahomet, IL. Mary RIta is also survived by her sister, Luann Axell of Penn Valley, CA and sister-in-law, Eileen Rouse of Danville. She was preceded in death by husband, Owen L. Rouse, one brother, Arthur F. (Lethamae) Wade, brother-in-law, Glenn R. Rouse, grandson, Benjamin Rouse and lifelong best friend Mary Carolyn (Vogt) Shields. Mrs. Rouse lived in Danville her whole life and was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society. She was over a 50-year member of Lambda Tau Delta, a philanthropic sorority, Alpha Zeta Chapter, having served as Chapter President and Second vice president several times. She loved music and played the pipe organ at St., Patrick's Church in Danville when she was 10 years old. As an adult, she sang in their choir. She also loved growing and arranging flowers and was an avid reader. She was a member and had played golf at the former Vermilion Hills Country Club. She took lessons and did some oil painting as a hobby. She and Owen had traveled extensively after his retirement in their Air Stream throughout the United States and Canada. A celebration of Mary's life will be held on Monday, August 3, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville with Fr. Greg Nelson officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM prior to the service at the funeral home. Entombment will take place at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
