Mary \Mike' Lovejoy

Mary Mike Louise Martin Lovejoy, 85, of Danville, passed away at 10:54 a.m., July 25, 2005 at her home. Mary was born October 23, 1919 in Fountain County, Indiana, the daughter of Samuel Jessie and Nina Violet (Goudy) Martin. She married Claude Pushie H. Lovejoy on June 8, 1946 in Champaign, Illinois. He preceded her in death on December 1980. Mary is survived by 2 daughters- Vicki (Randy) Schultz and Suzie (Billie) Birge, both of Danville; 1 son- Michael (Donna) Lovejoy of Westville; a very special daughter Mary Jo (Stephen) Pfeffer of Sante Fe, New Mexico; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild due in September; 1 niece- Barbara Walters of Covington, Indiana; and one very special dog Simon, who was the love of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 great-grandson, 1 brother- Paul Martin, 1 sister- Helen Lewin, and 1 nephew Gene McConnell. Mary graduated from Danville High School in 1937. She lived most of her life in the Danville area. She had worked at D&D Supermarket and the Nutty Nut Shop. She also did volunteer work sitting with the elderly. Mary loved music and when she was young she sang on WLS radio. She loved basketball, especially the Illini. Mary was a member of Second Church of Christ. Mary was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post #210. She was also a member of the Widows Might church group. A celebration of the life of Mary Mike Louise Martin Lovejoy will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 28, 2005 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, with Drew Mentzer officiating the service. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials may be made in Marys name to Carle Hospice or Second Church of Christ.
