Cayuga, Ind. -- Mary Marie Maynard, 100, Formerly of Cayuga, Indiana, and a resident of Vermillion Convalescent Center since 2002, passed away at 3:05 p.m. EDT Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at the Vermillion Convalescent Center in Clinton, Indiana. She was born February 15, 1908 in Cayuga, Indiana, the daughter of the late Samuel and Christena Kritz Newman. She married Everett Maynard on June 19, 1943 in Terre Haute, Indiana. He preceded her in death in 1965. Survivors include: two step daughters, Carolyn Ray of Wellington, North Carolina and Jean Boiano of Huntington, West Virginia; four step grandchildren, two great nieces, Nita Jo Parrish of Vacaville, California and Tina(Tim)Cox of Martinsville, Indiana; one great nephew, Brian(Trisha)Newman of Cayuga, Indiana; two great great nieces, Dawn(Jonathan)Hughes of Arizona and Hannah Whittington of Kingman, Indiana; four great great nephews, Joshua Whittington of Veedersburg, Indiana; Jacob(Pacia)Whittington of Kingman, Indiana; DiLowell Mott of Wisconsin and Daman(Deanna)Mott of Vacaville, California. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Willard "Bubby", Harry and Paul Newman. Mary worked as a telephone operator in Washington State and Cayuga, Indiana for many years. She formerly worked at the Newport Army Ammunition Plant and was the former Co-Owner of the Green Shingle Restaurant for many years. She was a member of the Cayuga Presbyterian Church, Delta Theta Tau Sorority and a 50 years member of the Cayuga Bridge Club. Mary was a 1927 graduate of Cayuga High School. Funeral services: 2 p.m. EDT Saturday, April 12, 2008 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Rev. Jack Holycross; Burial: Thomas Cemetery, Newport, Indiana; Visitation: One hour prior to services on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to Mrs. J.
