Mary Louise Harris

Mary Louise Harris, 79, of Avon, Indiana, passed away at 10:36pm, Saturday, March 25, 2023, at IU Health University Hospital, Indianapolis, IN. She was born on February 12, 1944, the daughter of Kastutis Anton and Josephine Ann {Hilbe} Povelones. She was united in marriage to Darrell Alan Harris on March 1, 1962, until his passing on December 1, 2021.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Christine Harris of Avon; her siblings, Diana (Jerry) Hill and Henry (Patricia) Povelones.

Mary graduated Class of 1961 from Schlarman High School, Danville, IL. She earned her Associates degree from St. Mary of the Woods. She was an avid member of the Indianapolis Crochet Guild and the Hendricks County Home Extension Group. She enjoyed crafting for charity, annually knitting hundreds of hats for newborn babies. Every year she demonstrated knitting, crocheting, and tatting at county and state fairs, often and winning awards. She was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church in Avon and was very active at the Hendricks County Senior Center in Danville, IN. She loved to travel to visit friends and attend crafting conventions. The family would like to thank the American Cancer Society for providing rides to cancer treatments.

A celebration of Marys life will be held at 1:00pm (EST), Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Covington, Indiana 420 3rd St. Covington, Indiana 47932 with David Hatfield officiating. Visitation will be held 11:30am to 1:00pm (EST) on Saturday prior to her service at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park, Danville, Illinois.
