Mary Lou Huckstadt, 87, of Danville, passed away peacefully at 2:40am on Thursday October 4, 2018 with family by her side. Mary Lou was born in Armstrong, IL on June 28, 1931 the daughter of Arch Morlan and Alta Klara Miller. In Armstrong, IL on October 12, 1952 Mary Lou married Richard Henry Huckstadt and they spent the next 66 years happily married, he survives. Also surviving are sons, Scott (Eileen) Huckstadt, Mark (Patty) Huckstadt, daughter, Susan (Rick) Willmert; grandchildren, Nathan (Niki) Huckstadt, Andy (Sadie) Huckstadt, Jennifer (Kennon) Senter, Nikki (Andy) McLain, Kyle Huckstadt; great-grandchildren, Lydia, Amelia, Ava, Tyson, Caleb, Marlow, Keagan, Henley; nieces and nephews, Kenneth Lester, Lorraine Lester, Loretta Minnis, Terry Jahnke, Rita Hamrick, best friend Annabelle Clark, caregivers, Sheila Miabella and April Gilbert, many cousins, church family, nursing friends and the Tanner family who have always been close to her heart. Mary Lou is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Alice (Roy) Lester. Mary Lou was a graduate of Armstrong High School class of 1949 and in 1952 received a degree from Lakeview School of Nursing. Mary Lou passionately worked for 46 years in the nursing field and was one of the first Pediatric Nurse Practitioners in the county. In 1976, Mary Lou was awarded Danville's Woman of the Year. She was a long-time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she served faithfully for many years. She enjoyed baking sugar cookies for her family and having lunches with her nursing friends. Mary Lou and her beautiful smile will be deeply missed by all. She genuinely loved people and cared deeply for them. A Memorial Service will be held at 12pm on Monday October 8, 2018 at Immanuel Lutheran Church 1930 N. Bowman Avenue, Danville. Officiating will be Pastor Heidle. Visitation will be held from 10am to 12pm prior to the service at Immanuel Lutheran. A private family burial will take place at Danville National Cemetery on Tuesday at 10am.
