Mary Lou Cooper

Mary Lou Cooper, 91, of Covington passed away on January 17, 2024 at the Waters of Covington. She was born on November 21, 1932 in Danville to parents Bert and Berniece Hughes. They preceded her in death.

Mary attended Covington High School and continued school to receive her RN license. It was a license she held with much regard. She worked as a school nurse for North Vermillion School for several years before accepting a position at the Illiana VA, where Mary would eventually retire from after many years of service. She married John Cooper in March of 1954 and together the two shared many wonderful memories before his passing.

Mary loved to travel and play euchre. In her free time, she could be found reading a good book or piecing together a puzzle. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by her sons Scot and Kevin Cooper, and her siblings Robert and Rita.

Mary is survived by her children Jon (Judy) Cooper of Danville and Kelly Eells of Covington and grandchildren Blake (Ashley) Medlin of Covington, Katie (Aliah) Badger also of Covington, and Ryan Cooper of Canton, NC. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Lyla, Brooklyn, Madison, Orin, Rinne, and Dakota, and her siblings Rose and Kathy.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm EST on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Covington, Indiana.
