MARY LEOTA LISTER Mary Leota Lister, 80, of Danville, passed away at 3:44 p.m. Thursday, February 10th, 2011 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center. Mary was born on June 29th, 1930 in Danville, the daughter of Harvey and Viola (Cook) Lister. She is survived by a brother- Walter (Iona) Lister of Attica; sister- Viola (Richard) Nicoson of Danville; beloved cousin- Anna Marie Owens of Danville; and several nieces and nephews who she was like a mother to. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers- Donald Lister and Gerald Lister, four sisters- Margaret Dunagan, Dora Ellen Cash, Betty Lyons and Josephine Tellier, and three nephews- David Nicoson, Ernest Dunagan and Dennis Cash. Mary was a graduate of Danville High School and she worked at Continental Filling and Quaker Oats, until she retired. She attended Pleasant Grove Church. Mary enjoyed word search puzzles, listening to gospel music, working with her flowers, was an avid Chicago sports fan and an avid reader. She loved her pets dearly, especially her cat-Murphy. Mary was a devoted Christian who lived it every day in her life and was an inspiration to all of her nieces and nephews. Private family services will be held at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home. She will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association, American Cancer Society and the Society of Prevention of Cruelty of Animals.
