Mary Lee Miller

Danville- Mary Lee Miller, 61, of Danville passed away at 8:43 PM on April 25, 2017 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. Mary was born on March 4, 1956 the daughter of William and Marjorie (Mettendorf) Higgenbotham in Mattoon, IL. She married Glenn Douglas Miller on April 21, 1984 and he survives of Danville. Survivors include her husband, Doug of Danville, one son, Doug (Jennifer) Miller of Westville, IL, two daughters, Nicole (John) McFarland of Bismarck, IL and Chelsey Miller of Danville, IL, one brother Bill (Jacque) Higgenbotham of Greencastle, IN, one sister Sue (Jimmy) White of Lynn Haven, FL, her mother-in-law, Louise Miller of Danville, IL, grandchildren, Ella Grace McFarland and Reis Maryn McFarland both of Bismarck and Ava Lynnlee Miller of Westville, IL, as well as several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and paternal and maternal grandparents. Mary graduated from Lakeview College of Nursing with her RN and then pursued her bachelor's degree in Nursing from St Francis University. She served as the House Supervisor and Critical Care Manager at St. Elizabeth Hospital until its merger with Lakeview Hospital where she served as the Director of the Emergency Room and the Director of the Dialysis Department for over 20 years. She also served as the Health Care Administrator at Danville Correctional Center. She worked as a part-time nurse for the Vermilion County Juvenile Detention Center and for DD Homes. In her free time, she loved to go to the "Miller Cabin" on the Wabash, cooking for her family, and attending her children and grandchildren's sporting events. She rarely missed a game. She enjoyed boating with her family and friends. Mary was also an avid Illini fan. Mary's pride and joy was her grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday April 29, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville, IL. Officiating will be Jim Russell. Burial will be at Hopewell Cemetery in Gessie, IN. Visitation will be held on Friday April 28, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial Donation may be made in Mary's name to Schultz House Activities Fund, 340 Bryan Ave Danville, IL 61832.
