Mary E. Lambert

Mary Ellen Lambert, 93, of Rantoul, passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2025. She was born in Decatur, IL on January 28, 1932, the daughter of John Oliver Knotts and Sallie Ann Knotts.

Mary is survived by her children, Jerry Knotts of Decatur, Carol Taulbee of Melvin, Debbie Calvillo of Rantoul, Patty McNamara of Paxton, Webster Smith of Rantoul, Tamy Smith of Rantoul, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Richard Leo Smith, second husband, Wayne Lambert, and her siblings.

Mary was an avid gardener, finding joy in nurturing her plants and sharing their beauty with others. Additionally, Mary cherished spending time with her family, particularly babysitting her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed riding her bike around town

A Graveside service honoring Mary’s life will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Drummer Township Cemetery in Gibson City. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center’s Lux Chapel 1551 E. Grove Ave. Rantoul, IL 61866, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
