Mary L. Dudley

Mary L. Dudley, 94, of Danville, passed away at 5:06am, Saturday, November 17, 2018, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home, Danville. She was born on June 10, 1924, in Danville, the daughter of Thomas and Bertha {Croncrite) Gillen. She was wed to Aubra Dudley until his passing in 1987. She will be survived by: her daughter, Freida (Greg) Trees of Danville; her grandchildren, Bradley (Kim) Miles of Terre Haute, IN, Shelly (Steve) Shafer of Tallahassee, FL, Tobi (Eric) Burnett of Danville, and Tash Trees of Oakwood; her great grandchildren, Michele, Shannon, Amanda, Justin, Jessica, Nick, Bryce, Brennan, Grady, and Griffin; her great-great grandchildren, Riley, Tristan, Evan, Paisley, George, Nolan, and Easton. She was preceded in death by her parents, her three sisters, and special friend, Harry Bennet. Mary worked as a telephone operator for Illinois Bell and retired after 33 years in 1983. She was a member of the Second Church of Christ in Danville and a life-long member of the VFW Auxiliary, as well as a member of the Westville American Legion Auxiliary Post #51. She was an active walker and was a founding member of the Westville Walkers for 28 years. Mary was known to be particular in the way she looked and was also recognized as a vibrant social butterfly who never met a stranger. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting and loved to sing. Mary's family was everything to her and she especially cherished her grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. A celebration of Mary's life will be held at 12:00pm, Monday, November 26, 2018, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S. State St., Westville, with Drew Mentzer officiating. Visitation will be held for family and friends 10:00am to 12:00pm on Monday at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park, Danville. Memorial donations may be given in her name to St. Jude's Children's Hospitals or Westville American Legion Post #51.
