Danville - Mary "Jean" Van Horne, 88, of Danville passed away at 4:45 PM on January 1, 2017 at North Logan Health Care in Danville, IL. "Jean" was born on December 23, 1928 the daughter of Lloyd and Ada (Musson) Watts in Danville. She married Frederick Charles Van Horne on March 18, 1944 in Covington, IN and he preceded her in death on November 8, 1999. Survivors include her son, Todd Van Horne of Danville, IL, her daughter, Nancy (Michael) Sager of Chatham, IL, one step brother, Donald Van Horne of Harrisburg, IL two grandchildren, Michael Garth (Lindsay) Sager of Lindenhurst, IL and Jessica Jean (Rob) Burke of Springfield, IL, five great grandchildren, and a special nephew, Frederick Gene Van Horne of Salt Lake City, UT. "Jean" was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Frederick. "Jean" was a licensed beautician as well as a Certified Assessor. She loved restoring furniture, china and pottery so that future generations could enjoy each piece's beauty. "Jean" also enjoyed sewing, fishing and camping. "Jean" was also very involved with the Special Olympics program. A Graveside Committal Service was held at 11:00 AM on Thursday January 5, 2017 at the Chapel Mausoleum in Spring Hill Cemetery, 301 East Voorhees Street Danville, IL. A dove release, conducted by Family Wings of Love, was also accorded. James Blue will officiate. Memorials may be made to the charity of Special Olympics.
