Mary Jean Dennison was born January 4, 1947 at Deaconess Hospital in Lincoln, Illinois to Murrell and Lila Mae (Johnson) Dennison. Jean was a graduate of Mason City High School, Class of 1965. She received her Bachelors Degree in Music at ISU, and her Masters from the University of Illinois. Jean was a music teacher and later worked for the U of I, Department of Water Survey until her retirement.
Jean was very active at First Baptist of Savoy for many years. She was Director of the Childrens Choir, later Directed the Chancel Choir. She also was actively involved in the Annie Dieselberg Mission Circle, Ladies Bible Study, Deaconess, Sunday School Class, Prayer Group, and helped with funeral lunches as well as providing rides to church for her friends. Music was always a very important part of her life and she especially enjoyed her years singing and accompanying "The Hymns of Praise" quartet.
Jean was very passionate about her family of Cavelier dogs. She was active in the Cavelier Rescue and lavished love on her canine "kids".
She was also a member of the local DAR Chapter.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Bob. She is survived by her sister, Jane Ellen (Bud) Pruett of Springfield, IL, two nieces: Jennifer (Dan) Tygret of Colorado Springs, CO, and Rebecca (Trent) Palmer of Anderson, IN. She is also survived by two great nieces: Mae Palmer and Abigail Tygret and two great nephews: Bly Palmer and Noah Tygret. She also leaves behind her beloved, Carter, who has brought much joy.
