Mary Jane (Wainwright) Claypool passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2015, at Presence USMC, Danville. She was born July 15, 1924, in Oakwood the daughter of Walter and Ercel (Jacobs) Wainwright. Mary married Charles L. Claypool on December 18, 1943 at his sister, May Cunninghams home, in Oakwood. Sadly, Charles passed away on June 19, 1997. Mary was a graduate of Oakwood High School. She loved gardening and working in the yard. She and Charles lived on a farm in Bronson, Illinois for many years. They always had a large garden and fruit trees. She enjoyed canning fresh vegetables and fruit. Mary did housecleaning for many families in the Oakwood area; she worked hard and loved it. She referred to the homes that she cleaned as her “Little Dollhouses”. Before she retired, she became a janitor at the Bank in Oakwood. She loved her family and was so proud of her kids and grandkids Mary enjoyed attending the Nazarene Church in Oakwood. Except for 3 years that she lived in Maine with Wilma and Cal, Mary lived in the Oakwood area most of her life. She spent the last years of her life at Pleasant Meadows Senior Living in Chrisman, Illinois. She loved it and was very happy and contented. She received kind and loving care while there for which her family is so very grateful. Those who will miss her include: her son, Leonard (Billie) Claypool of Morehead, Kentucky, and their children: “Mac”, Cindy, and Jeremy; her daughter, Wilma (Calvin) Prescott of Whitefield, Maine, and their children: Mary Evelyn Lynn (Kyle) Lewis, as well as, their four children: Cassandra, Kodey, Kent, and Cameron of Jordan, Minnesota; her daughter, Shannon (Seamus) Prescott-Walsh of Old Town, Maine; Charles (Lori Dubois) Prescott of Williamstown, Massachusetts. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Ercel & Walter Wainwright; her husband, Charles Claypool; her sisters, Alice Williams, Dorothy Stuebe, and Wilma Naylor; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. A celebration of Marys life will be held at 11:00am, Friday, April 17, 2015, at Sunsets Oakwood Chapel, Oakwood, IL, with Bill Connell officiating. Visitation will be 10:00am to 11:00am prior to her services at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given in her name to Pleasant Meadows Senior Living, 400 W Washington, Chrisman, IL, 61924.
