M. Helen (Rambole) Potter, 91, of Danville, passed away at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, January 28, 2008 at Hawthorne Inn in Danville. Helen was born on June 6, 1916 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Lawrence and Elma (Sparrow) Rambole. She married Herman Potter on June 13, 1936 in Covington, IN and was married for 63 years before he passed away on March 6, 2000. She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Hawkins of Danville; three grandchildren, Greg(Tina) Hawkins and Chris (Kelly) Hawkins both of Danville and Dinah (Gordon) Clingan of Fithian, IL; two foster grandchildren, Jeff Potter and Kevin (Libby) Potter both of Indiana; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Wilma Smith of Chicago, IL. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, parents, infant daughter and son, foster son, Alan Potter, son-in-law, Clyde Hawkins, a brother, Bill Rambole and a sister, Marguerite Otis. Helen moved to Danville and graduated from Danville High School in 1934. She helped her husband farm for many years as well as helped take care of Johnson Cemetery. Helen was a long time member of Snider Home Extension. She was a devoted member of Old Union Church of Christ for over 50 years and a founding member of CrossRoads Christian Church. A celebration of life for Helen will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2008 at CrossRoads Christian Church at 3613 N. Vermilion Street in Danville with Miles Clark officiating. Burial will be at Johnson Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at CrossRoads Christian Church. Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Johnson Cemetery.
