(Mary) Ann Harris

(Mary) Ann Harris, 91, of Danville, IL, passed away on July 25, 2026, at Hawthorne Inn, Danville, IL.

Ann was born on May 21, 1935, the daughter of Clifford and Eva (Schnebly) Root, in Worden, Arkansas. She married Mackie G. Harris on November 25, 1954, in San Francisco. Mack preceded her in death on July 26, 2018.

Survivors include her daughters; Peggy (John) Kunze of Danville, IL and Susan (James) Russell of Centennial, CO; her grandchildren Jennifer Kunze, Melissa Kunze, Andrew (Savi) Kunze, Jon (Lupe) Russell, Greg (Rachel) Russell, and Willie (Jill) Russell; her great grandchildren Paige Ryan, Trenton Ryan, Jonathan Kunze, Tommy Kunze, Luca Kunze, Sonia Kunze, Mackie Russell, Lola Russell, Emma Russell, Cooper Russell, Poppy Russell, and Willow Russell; as well as one great great-grandchild, Kian Ledesma. Ann is also survived by one sister, Anita Sue (Donald) Cooley.

Ann is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Mack, and siblings Edwin Root, Paul Root, Ronald Root, Jean Adams, and Paula Knight, as well as one grandson, Christopher Kunze.

Ann thoroughly enjoyed her role as church secretary, first in Peoria, IL, then in Edwardsville, IL, and finally in Hot Springs Village, AR. She was also a long-standing member of PEO and United Women of Faith. Most recently, she was a member of St. James UMC here in Danville.

Ann’s life will be celebrated in her hometown of Worden, AR, with her burgeoning family and friends.

The family wishes to publicly express deep appreciation to the excellent staff and administration of Hawthorne Inn Assisted Living. This special group of people consistently treated Ann with respect, love, and true professionalism. We are profoundly grateful.

Private burial will take place at a later time at Danville National Cemetery.

Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834 is assisting the family with cremation rites.
