Mary A. Gundrum, 84, of Westville passed away at 7:25 p.m. Sunday January 27, 2008 at Provena USMC Logan Campus. She was born on May 21, 1923 in Westville, IL the daughter of Mike and Madeline Ferpatto Mattone. She married Mark Gundrum D.D.S on January 1, 1942 at St. Marys Church in Westville, IL. He preceded her in death on November 13, 1993. Survivors include: three daughters, Launie (Phil) Morgan of Danville, Diana Carey of Danville, and Marcia Gundrum of Westville; four grandchildren, Ryan (Elizabeth) Morgan of Denver, CO, Kristin Gard of Danville, Ian Carey of Chicago, IL, and Reagan (Tony Tilghman) Carey of Charleston, IL; seven great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lucille Mattone of Lexington, KY and nieces and nephews, Frank Jr., Luann, Marybeth, Kathy. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Frank & John Mattone. Mary worked as the village clerk at the city hall in Westville, where she retired after many years of service. She was a member of St. Pauls Catholic Church in Danville and the Golden Kiwanis. Mary enjoyed cooking and swimming at Poolside. She loved to laugh and have fun. She was known for her colorful fun scarfs. She especially loved spending time with her many friends and family. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday February 2, 2008 at St. Pauls Catholic Church in Danville with Father Greg Nelson officiating. Entombment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Danville. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday February 1, 2008, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel 414 S. State St. Westville, IL, with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Pauls Catholic School or the charity of the Donors Choice. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com. Id like the memory of me to be a happy one. Id like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. Id like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways. Of happy times and laughing times and bright sunny days. Id like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun of happy memories that I leave when life is done.
