Mary Gruelle

Mary Sophia Gruelle, 90 of Danville, IL went home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on April 23, 2014 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. Mary was a faithful follower and servant of our Lord Jesus Christ until her departure to heaven. She was a member of Second Church of Christ in Danville where she served the Lord in various ministries including cleaning pews, delivering meals to the home-bound, and being a prayer warrior for the prayer chain. In her daily walk with Jesus she was a blessing to so many people during her lifetime. By her faithful example and testimony, many have come to personally know the love and salvation of Jesus Christ. Mary was preceded in death by her two husbands, Louie Smith and Everett Gruelle; son Douglas Keith Smith; and stepdaughter Debbie Stocker. She is survived by her sons, David Smith, Gary Smith, and Bob Smith; her stepchildren Connie McClintock and Dennis Gruelle; her granddaughter, Alexis Smith; and her grandson, Todd Smith; and great grandchildren, Destiny Smith, Dylan Smith, Dawson Smith, and Devin Smith. The family would like to thank the staff of the Cardio Unit at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL for their tender care. A celebration of Marys departure to be with our Lord Jesus will be held at 11:00 am Saturday May 3, 2014 at Second Church of Christ in Danville led by Sr. Pastor Drew Mentzer. At Marys request, there will be no visitation or graveside service. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, IL, A Life Celebration Home were entrusted with Marys last wishes.
