Mary 'Granny' Louise Gooch

Mary "Granny" Louise Gooch, 80, of Sidell, passed away at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Danville on June 28, 2016 at 6:25am. Mary was born the daughter of Dale and Catharine (Schmink) Romack on November 25, 1935. Surviving Mary is her mother Catharine; three children Jeff "White Owl" (Debbie) Gooch, Dawn (Mike) Demmin and Patrick (Jeanette) Gooch; six grandchildren, Cole (Megan) Gooch, Shelby English, Jeremy, Dustin, Cassie Gooch, and Carly Demmin; six great grandchildren, Ryien, Kyleigh, Marshall, Kaden, Karsen and Merrik; two sisters, Betty Lanham and Donna Moss; two brothers Gary and Ronald Romack. Mary was preceded in death by her father, one sister Beverly Curtis, two children Tammy Pearman and Chris Gooch. Mary worked at Vermilion Manor as a CNA, then worked as a store clerk at Lucas Grocery in Sidell for twenty years, later working as a daycare provider. Mary was a diehard Chicago Cubs, Bears and Illini fan. She was her grandchildren's biggest fan and never missed an event. Mary enjoyed sitting out in the sun, talking to everyone and her trips to the "Dollar Store." Most of all, her family was the most important thing to her and she loved them all. A Memorial Visitation will be held at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E West St, Georgetown, on Friday July 8th, 2016 from 4 until 7pm. Burial at a later date at Georgetown Cemetery. Memorials can be made in Mary's name to Vermilion County Handicap Association.
