Mary 'Granny B' Beckman

Mary Granny B Beckman, 84, of Danville, passed this Life at 1:30pm EDT, Saturday, September 25, 2010 at her daughters home, in Covington, with family by her side. She was born on January 29, 1926, the daughter of Phillip and Irene Johnson. She married Jack Beckman on January 8, 1947. He preceded her in death in 1984. Mary is survived by and will be missed by her 3 children, Karla Jones of Covington, IN, Mary Beckman of Sarasota, FL, and Jack Beckman of Pennsylvania. Her six grandchildren, Brian (Kristi) Ford of Chatham, IL, Nikki (Mike) Holden of Danville, Jeff (Vicki) Garland of State Line, IN, and Jed and Jay Beckman, both of Pennsylvania, and Jeremy (Suzie) Ware of West Lebanon, as well as her great-grandchildren, who she loved dearly, also survive her. In addition to her husband Jack, Marys parents, and one daughter, Becky Beckman, preceded her in death. She worked several jobs, retiring with K-Mart of Danville She went back to work for a short period of time with Big Lots of Danville until heatlh issues in 2006. Mary was a people person and everyone that she met loved her and her smile. Her hobbies included: flowers, gardening, loving her dog, Baxter and occasional trips to the river boat Casino in Peoria, IL. She was totally devoted to her family, doting on all of her grandchildren and never missed an opportunity for a family get-together. Mary had many friends and her family considered her to be the Queen B, were others referred to her as Granny B. A Celebration of the Life of Mary Granny B Beckman will begin at 1:00pm on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, located at 3940 N. Vermilion Street in Danville, with burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Danville. Visitation for family and friends will be from 11:00am until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
