Mary Elizabeth Frazier, 88, of Bondville died at home on Monday, February 13, 2017. Graveside services will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, February 17, 2017 at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign. Pastor Mark Elliot & Jeffrey Caithamer will be officiating. Mary was born on January 29, 1926, at Springfield, IL to Louis Frederick & Ann Michelich Schmidt. She married Robert Burl Frazier April 4, 1953, in Chatham. She is survived by her son Robert L. Frazier, Champaign; brother, John Schmidt, Waverly; grandchildren, Mechell, Ellen & Sophia Frazier, Champaign; daughter-in-law, Sanna G. Frazier, Champaign. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Robert; Son, Thomas Frazier; twin grandsons, Spencer Robert & Kyle Louis Frazier; brother, William Schmidt. She held a Bachelor's Degree in education from Western Illinois University, Macomb & a Master's Degree in education from the University of Illinois, Urbana. For eighteen years, she accompanied her husband, Lt. Col. Robert Frazier, during his USAF military career. During these years, she taught in the old Switzer & Westside schools, Champaign (1950-1958), Toul- Rosieres USAF Dependent school, France (1958-1962), Carbondale, Illinois (1962-1965), Millbrook, Alabama (1965-1969), San Bernardino, California (1969-1971), Dennis school, Decatur public schools (1971-2002). She was privileged to teach in the first integrated public school in rural Alabama. While in California she taught Latino students in San Bernardino. Upon her husband's retirement, she taught at Dennis School, Decatur, Il. (1971-2002). Having devoted herself to public school education for 52 years, she retired in 2002. She was a partner with her husband in building Frazier Acres Subdivision, Bondville, Il. Mary was the recipient of the Education Advantage Award, Decatur Public Schools. She is listed in Who's Who Among American Teachers. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Champaign.
