Mary Frances Smith

Mahomet - Mary Frances Smith, 91, of Mahomet passed away on Monday, December 5, 2016 at 5:40 PM at her home surrounded by family. She was born on March 6, 1925 in Beason, IL to George Franklin and Grace (Larson) Poston. She married Arthur Lawrence Smith on December 25, 1943 in Beason. He preceded her in death in 1996. She is survived by two children, Art (Beth) Smith of Mahomet, and Marita Smith of Northville, MI; four grandchildren, Brandy Smith-Coy, Shawn Smith, Elizabeth (Eric) Johnson, and Alison (Donald) Burrow; three great-grandchildren, Justin Coy, Nicolas Burrow, and Riley Johnson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Howard Poston. Mary was a graduate of Beason High School. She married after and went to work as the bookkeeper for her husband's businesses, Art's Beauty Salons. Mary and Art owned and operated this business until they retired to Florida in 1985. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mary Smith will be held at a later date. Cremation services have been entrusted to Sunset's Champaign-Urbana Chapel at 710 N. Neil St. in Champaign.
