Mary F. Deck

Mary F. Deck, 91, of Ridge Farm passed away at 4:02 AM on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at her home with family by her side. She was born on August 9, 1926 in Yale, IL, on the family farm to Wroten & Marie (Martin) Freeland. She married Wallace Deck on September 12, 1948 in St. Marie, IL. He preceded her in death on June 18, 2017. Surviving is a daughter, Teresa (Robert) Hall of Adel, IA, and a son, Walter A. (Gail) Deck of Ridge Farm; sisters, Cassie Ballinger; sister in law, Joann Deck; 6 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Ridge Farm Friends Church. Evolved with USFW, Sunday school teacher and youth leader with Wallace for several years. Together they chaperoned many youth trips extending from coast to coast. Mary was a member of the Illiana Antique Auto Club in Danville, as well as participated in various other car clubs with her husband. Mary was also recognized by the City of Ridge Farm for 60 years of contributions to the community by naming the park pavilion in their honor. Wally and Mary traveled extensively; many of those trips included their best friends, Wayne and Ila Blakeney. She also enjoyed sewing and working in her flower garden. Mary resided at Pleasant Meadows Senior Living in Chrisman, where she made many friends and received loving care. In appreciation of attentive care for Mary by the Carle hospice nurses, memorial donations can be made to Carle Hospice at 206A W. Anthony Dr. Champaign IL, 61822. Also, donations can be made to the Ridge Farm Friends Church funeral dinner fund. A service to celebrate the life of Mary F. Deck will be held at 11 AM on Monday, October 2, 2017 at the Ridge Farm Friends Church. Pastor Glen Thompson will officiate. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Sunset Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E. West St. in Georgetown.
