Mary C. Elliott, 95, of Georgetown went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 7, 2024 at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville after a brief illness. She was born on February 21, 1929 in Georgetown, Illinois to the late Richard and Anna Mae Chow. She attended Georgetown High School and worked for 7 years at the plastics factory in town. She also worked at the former Watson Funeral Home in Cayuga for some time. She married the love of her life, Clarence Elliott, on June 25, 1950. She was heartbroken when he passed.
Mary kept her faith at the forefront her entire life and was a devoted servant to her Lord. She was a member of the Eugene United Methodist Church for over 50 years, and most recently had been attending the First Baptist Church in Danville. Her family takes comfort in knowing she has been reunited with her Lord and loved ones. Her passion for serving was evident in the love and care she poured into others. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and loved nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren. She was elated when she became a great-grandmother and looked forward to every opportunity to spend time with them, too. She enjoyed helping elderly people in the community as well. She was a true blessing to those around her.
In her spare time, Mary enjoyed sewing and quilting. She also enjoyed working in her garden and cooking. Her family will miss all the wonderful meals she prepared for them.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by her two sons Donald “Don” and William “Bill” Elliott, as well as her siblings Lorene Hartman, Richard Chow, Helena Deck, Viola Draper, Verniece Kent, and an infant brother.
Mary is survived by her granddaughters Kristina (Sohail) Rather, Jamie (James) Stillson, and Julia (Teyler) Neier; her great-grandchildren Calleigh, Rachel, Oakley, Cara, Audrey, and Elias; and her brother John “Frank” (Norma Jean) Chow. She also leaves behind her daughter-in-law, who became her closest companion and caregiver these last several years, Kim R. Elliott.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024 from 11:00 AM- 1:00 PM EST at Sunset Funeral Home’s DeVerter Chapel, located at 215 N. Division Street in Cayuga, IN. A graveside service will take place following the visitation at 1:00 PM at Thomas Cemetery in Newport, IN. She will be laid to rest next to Clarence following services.
