Mary Ellen Weir

Cayuga, Ind. -- Mary Ellen Weir, 73, of Cayuga, passed away at 11:24 a.m. EDT Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Central Hospital in Lafayette, Indiana. She was born June 1, 1937 in Mansfield, Illinois, the daughter of the late Orville and Sylvia Lincium Brooks. She married Jerry O. Weir on July 22, 1956 at the Georgetown Christian Church in Georgetown, Illinois. He preceded her in death on June 19, 2010. Survivors include three sons, Rick(Tammy)Weir of Cayuga, Indiana; Mark Weir of Lafayette, Indiana and Eric(Lisa)Weir of Cerro Gordo, Illinois; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; aunt, Beulah White of Champaign, Illinois. Mary Ellen formerly worked at Federal Mogul in Frankfort, Indiana and the Cayuga Red & White. She was a member of the Cayuga Christian Church and a former Cub Scout Den mother. Mary Ellen was a 1955 graduate of Georgetown High School. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to Mary Ellen's special friends for the many cards, phone calls, care and comfort they extended to her over the last several years. Funeral services: 4 p.m. EDT Friday, April 22, 2011 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Dr. Andy Spencer; Burial: Thomas Cemetery in Newport, Indiana; Visitation: 2 p.m. EDT until time of services Friday, April 22, 2011 at the funeral home.
