Mary Ellen Montgerard

Mary Ellen (Stuebe) Montgerard, 79, of Danville, Illinois, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, August 27, 2024.

She was born February 11, 1945, in Danville, Illinois, daughter of the late John and Dorothy (Wainwright) Stuebe.

She married Howard Thomas “Tom” Montgerard on May 17, 1964, and he preceded her in death in 2000.

Mary is survived by her children: Kelly (Debbie Pope) Montgerard, Barb (Wilbert Kindle) Montgerard, Debbie Pratt, and Tom (Molly) Montgerard; her brothers: Kenneth and John Stuebe; her grandchildren: Jared (Gregory) Crosby-Echols, Andrea (Mike) Pratt, Aaron (Megan) Pratt, Paige (Kekko) Pratt, Jessica (Landon) Peace, Dylan Pratt, Trey Montgerard, Kenzie (Chey-Jordan) Montgerard and Reese Montgerard.

Along with her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by her brother: William “Bill” Stuebe, and one great-grandchild, Ava Marie Baker.

Mary spent her years as a loving homemaker raising a family. She was known for her great cooking, especially at Christmas time when she made her famous cinnamon rolls, cookies and noodles. She cherished the time spent with her grandchildren having them in the kitchen and teaching them how to bake the best cookies and decorate them. When not in the kitchen with her grandchildren, Mary could be found kicked back watching one of her favorite Hallmark Movies, or watching The Price is Right, The Golden Girls and Everybody Loves Raymond. She also loved to play Bingo, and later in life, Mary enjoyed playing slots and games on her phone. Most of all, Mary loved every moment spent with her family. She loved to cheer her family on at sporting events, and her grandchildren always knew she was in the stands rooting for them.

Per her wishes, a private graveside service for Mary will be held at Sunset Memorial Park at a later date.
