Mary Kinney walked through Heaven's Gate on Monday, July 23, 2018. She was met there by her loving husband, Jack, who went ahead of her in 2006. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ethel Harris, Brother Sam, Daughter-in-law Karen and Great-granddaughter Kyla. She is missed by her daughter, Kathy (Juan) Reyes; sons, Wayne (Christy) Kinney, Allen (Lisa) Kinney and Mark (Leslie) Kinney. She loved seeing and spending time with her twelve grandchildren and her five great-grandchildren. They brought her special joy and she prayed for each of them every day. Mary loved the Lord and was especially blessed when she heard the old religious hymns. She showed the Love of Christ in her daily living. She never complained, even in the worst circumstances. She loved people and would smile and say hello to anyone she passed. Her compassion for others was limitless. If she saw someone who needed help, she offered it. If they were hurting, she gave comfort. She cried for others' pain. She called friends daily to make sure they were okay and sent cards to encourage others. She worked at Bohn for many years. After retirement she enjoyed serving her church by visiting the shut-ins and making quilts for them. She was a life-long member of Southside Church of the Nazarene. At home she spent time outside working in her flowers. She watched the birds and when she was no longer able to do it herself, made sure someone cleaned and filled the bird bath and refilled the bird feeders every single day. Her favorite color was red, and her favorite words were "Bless your Heart". She loved all holidays, but Christmas was her favorite. Holidays meant all the family would come home. We have wonderful memories of those special days. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11am on Friday, July 27, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville. Grandson-in-law, Reverend Randy Holden will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Visitation will be held from 6PM to 8PM on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at the funeral home. Please join Mary's family in sharing memories, photos, and videos on her tribute wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
