Cayuga, Ind. - Mary E. Maxfield, 90, formerly of Cayuga and a resident at The Waters of Covington in Covington, Indiana, passed away at 11:20 p.m. EDT Friday, August 8, 2014. She was born February 21, 1924 in Kingman, Indiana, the daughter of the late Charles and Verdie Taylor Phipps. She married Kenneth G. Maxfield on April 4, 1942 in Clinton, Indiana. He preceded her in death on July 13, 1998. Survivors include two sons, Rick(Maryl)Maxfield of Danville, Illinois and Rodney(Tena)Maxfield of Covington, Indiana; ten grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Rachel Maxfield of Perrysville, Indiana; one sister, Lulu Mae Timberlake of Attica, Indiana; two brothers, Norman(Connie)Conrad of Cayuga, Indiana and David Conrad of Clinton, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by two sons, Charles Roy and Donald Maxfield; daughter-in-law, Phyliss Maxfield; three sisters and one brother. Mary was a member of the Cayuga Christian Church and the Cayuga American Legion Auxiliary Unit 263. She was a 1942 graduate of Cayuga High School. Mary enjoyed reading, sewing, traveling, camping, working on jigsaw puzzles, helping people and spending time with her family.
