With her family at her side, Mary DeQuimpaul, 90, passed this life on June 3, at 5:05 a.m. after a brief stay at North Logan Health Care. Mary was born in 1917 to Steve and Lena Janosik in Hamilton, OH, but lived her life in Westville, IL. After graduating from Westville High School, she trained and worked for several years as a lab technician at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, IL where she made many lifelong friends. She married Henry DeQuimpaul on October 24, 1943. He preceded her in death in 2005. Together they raised three children who survive; Tom (Kay) DeQuimpaul of Danville, Jeanne (Bob) Winland of Georgetown, and Debbie (Dan) Petet of Oakwood. Also surviving are nine grandchildren - Angela Jones of Lake Mary, FL; Sarah (John) Rosell of Evans, GA; Danielle and Stephanie DeQuimpaul of Danville; Mark (Andrea) Winland of Jacksonville, IL; Jay (Lauren) Winland of Danville; Scott Petet of Phoenix, AZ; Nicole Hergert of Silver Thorne, CO and Tara Miller of Franklin, TN. Three great grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Steve Janosik and Joe Janosik, and one grandson, Jeremy Jones. Mary was a member of St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church until their closing, at which point she joined St. Marys. Mary was an accomplished seamstress who loved sewing and knitting and made many articles for her family and friends. She made special quilts and afghans for each of her children and grandchildren. She was an avid reader who also enjoyed playing Scrabble and working crossword puzzles. Mary remained active and alert throughout her life and her proudest accomplishment was conquering the Internet at age 85. Mary never knew a stranger and continued to make new friends all through her life. Mary was a loving mother and grandmother who will be sadly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Westville Public Library. Visitation will be held at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel in Westville on Friday, June 6, 2008 from 10-11 am. A private family service will be held immediately following visitation.
