Mary Ann Christy

Danville – Mary Ann Christy, 84, of Danville, passed away at 1:39 AM on Sunday, November 24, 2025, at OSF Sacred Heart in Danville. She was born May 26, 1941, in Danville to Melvin and Doris (Dias) Johnson. She married Dennis Christy on August 10, 1963. He preceded her in death on September 9, 2019.

She is survived by three children, Lisa Fullen of Danville, Rick Christy of Davidson, NC, and Shawn Christy of Naples, FL; granddaughter, Samantha Fullen; and a brother, Jim Johnson.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and a son-in-law, Mark Fullen.

During baseball season, Mary Ann could often be found cheering on her favorite team, the Chicago Cubs. She also loved soaking up the sun in Florida, where she resided for nearly thirty years. It was in Florida that Mary Ann would often volunteer for the Gummi Animal Rescue. Animals held a special place in her heart, and she enjoyed giving back when she had the opportunity. Mary Ann also loved her family dearly, and she will be missed by all of them.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mary Ann Christy will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834. Memorials in her name may be made to the Vermilion County Animal Shelter.
