Mary Catherine Whitmyer died peacefully at the age of 90 on April 30, 2017 in Columbia, MO. Mary was born October 18, 1926 in Danville, PA to Lila (Stahl)Beck and Emanuel R. Beck. Mary is survived by daughters Ethel (Theodore)Miner and Linda (James) Acton; five grandchildren; Karen Miner Phillips (Rob), Dr. James Acton (Elise), Aaron Acton (Kelli), Alesha Acton Dugger (Jerrad), Ashley Acton Engel (Timothy) and 14 great-grandchildren: Brian and Neil Phillips, Mikaela and Nathaniel Acton, Austin Coffman, Jasmine Siebert, Hailee, Brittnee and Aaron Balk, Justin and Catherine Acton, and Alexis, William Heath and Lydia Engel. Mary and Truman G. Whitmyer were married November 24, 1945 in Mazeppa, PA. He preceded her in death. Three great-grand-babies born into God's arms, also preceded her in death; Patrick James Acton, Gabriel Truman Engel and Taylor Noel Engel. Mary was the youngest of five; Ethel (Norman) Edinger, Inez (Nicholas) Giardino, Dale (Ruth) Beck, and Jacob (Agnes) Beck. All her siblings preceded her in death. Mary was a devoted wife and mother, even while working outside the home in her early adult life. She was a diversely talented woman and homemaker who contributed to many community organizations such as Gideons, Eastern Star and Jobs Daughters. At a very young age, Mary was committed her faith which was evident throughout her life. Mary and Truman were valued members of Lincoln Methodist Church. Mary of "Gee Gee" as she was called by her grandchildren and great grandchildren was dearly loved and will be missed. We will be honoring Mary in Danville, IL on Saturday, May 6, 2017 with the visitation from 9-11am and service at 11am at Sunset Funeral Home at 3940 N.
